Perkins origins began back in 1932. Despite gaining a degree in engineering, and coming from an agricultural engineering family, Frank Perkins career began as a farmer. Eventually Perkins joined his father in at AGE (Agricultural and General Engineers Group) to learn the engineering business. During the 1920's Perkins formed a new company with Charles Chapman and by 1932 had developed the worlds first high speed diesel engine.

Perkins was purchased by Massey Ferguson – it’s largest customer, in 1959, and then by Caterpillar in 1998.  Perkins Engines, is primarily a diesel engine manufacturer for several markets including Agricultural, Construction, Material Handling, Power Generation and Industrial.
