Ferguson TED20 - Dismantling the Front Axle - Video Tutorial

The this latest tutorial in the series following the restoration of his TED20, Gordon dismantles the front axle to inspect it's condition in preparation for the next stage of his project.

'Well we started this video intending to fit the Flywheel and Clutch, but that didn't go to plan. So instead, we dismantled the Front Axle, which we needed to do, to get it out of our way! It was also good to get an understanding of it's condition so we know what parts to order and what work needs doing. ' 

The front axle is designed to carry the front end load of the tractor so is built to withstand and absorb shocks created by the uneven nature of agricultural land.  The standard basic configuration comprises a fixed width axle that pivots at the centre. Variations include an adjustable wide front end that allows the operator to adjust the width to enable them to drive between rows without damaging the crop.
